Three jobs. The flat weeks are still in here.
None of these were “page one in ten days”. Two of them needed a replacement in the first month. One of them rewrote their own pages and says that mattered as much as the links.
Whitaker Heating · Leeds · 60 backlinks
“Boiler service Leeds” went from 18 to 6.
Dan already had a service page that answered the obvious questions: price range, coverage, how fast they can get a van out. It wasn’t thin. It just wasn’t moving. He bought 60 backlinks at $1 each because he didn’t want to spend guest-post money on a test.
Eight of the sixty were slow to index. He sent the list on a Wednesday. The replacements were on the next sheet. Clicks on that URL went from about 640 a month in March to 1,480 in July. He still checks it. He told us it can slip, and he’s right, it can.
“I’m not framing it.”
Dan Whitaker, owner
Northline Payroll · Manchester · monthly links
DR 11 to 29. Referring domains 86 to 310.
Helen runs SEO in-house. She ordered a monthly mix and, in the same quarter, rewrote the product descriptions that had been sitting there since the last redesign. She will not let a vendor take credit for both.
What she will say: the referring-domain line in Ahrefs bent the week the first report arrived, and the brand queries were already fine. The movement was on the product terms. January to May.
“I’m not pretending the links did nothing. I’m also not pretending we didn’t rewrite the pages.”
Helen Cho, Northline

Category revenue £4,200 to £9,100. Homepage, barely.
Marcus was specific. He didn’t want the homepage. He sent category URLs and a note that said “don’t touch the brand anchors, I already rank for my name.” Two drafts came back stiff. One of them used the word “delve”. His editor sent them back the same afternoon and we rewrote them that day.
The quarter after, those categories did £9,100 from organic, up from £4,200. He checked the homepage out of habit. It was flat. He was pleased.
“Don’t let anyone sell you sitewide.”

If your page is already decent, send it.
If it isn’t, we’ll say that too. On-page and off-page, written out.
